Benefits Street

LBC radio have made me mad this morning (and im usually a fan of the 6am show). They were discussing some ew television programme called 'Benefits Street', but I couldn't take it seriously because the amount of bile spouted forth was ridiculous. And let me first say, I don't claim any benefits so this nonsensical rubbish aimed at benefits claimants by pompous radio presenters shouldn't bother me, but even I can see that not everyone on the dole or on sickness benefit are useless scroungers like the one that sounds like are in Benefits Street. I wouldn't watch such garbage so im only going on what callers to the station said about the show.
I have friends on Twitter (I refuse to call them 'followers') who are genuinely disabled, and shame on anyone who would dare called them feckless scroungers. Dear God, I can feel my blood pressure rising with every word I type. Haven't these journalists heard about the tragic stories of disabled folk who have committed suicide because of these government clamp downs on sickness benefits? They ought to have, they've written the stories. Or do they think so little of them that the tales are forgotten as soon as they are in the paper?
Of course the lead swingers and scroungers exist. One only has to see the scruffy urchins swigging lager at 11am outside Weatherspoons on a week day to have proof of this (and these are not workers having a swift pint). Wherever you turn in life, from top to bottom, you will find chancers and the dishonest. Sadly its human nature. But my friends, its not all, how could it be? I don't know the figures of how many are claiming benefits, but are we seriously suggesting they are all cheating the system? Certain presenters on LBC radio seem to be doing so. Methinks their former tabloid urge to shock has completely taken over the rational part of their brains.
Its not as easy as benefits = cheats and the stories are easy to Google: tragic tales of folk with terminal cancer being forced to work due to ATOS passing them fit, disabled soldiers coming home from Afghanistan being denied Welfare assistance, and even working single mothers having housing benefit stopped because they earn £2 over some limit or other. The list is near endless. Are these feckless scroungers? No! Because not everyone is swinging the lead!
I never once imagined I would be speaking out on this subject, or feel so annoyed by certain attitudes toward it, because as I have pointed out, I do not claim benefits and am not in that 'world' but LBC radio have forced my hand. I cannot stay silent while ignorant bullies in mainstream media trample all over these poor people (the honest claimants not the lager louts). Social media has shown me that there IS an honest side to 'Benefits Street' and we, especially government and journalists, wold be unwise to ignore it. Or worse, label everyone as idle layabouts.

Lenient Sentences and Sicker Paragraphs

The story about 29 year old Gemma McCluskie, an actress whose headless body was found in London is terribly sad, and my thoughts go out to her family and friends. Nobody should have to meet death in such a grusome way and so young. One would think most people would feel the same and no doubt the saner ones do (I haven't lost ALL hope yet) but there are also twisted individuals who think this tragedy is comical. They are merrily creating sick 'jokes' and posting them all over the internet, on joke sites and in news comments and frighteningly very few have pulled these creeps up on their vile antics.
Who killed compassion? When did it wither on the vine and dry with the sand? Some folk have totally and utterly lost any thread of humanity. Why on earth has a brutal murder become the subject of such hilarity? Are we so desensitised to violence and horrors that it has become acceptable to poke fun at the headless body of a young woman?


Justice be done. Or we will be...

I believe a lot of blame can be pointed at our lenient sentencing. Afterall if the State thinks a crime warrants a lenient sentence, the public believe the crime to be not too bad. Five years for rape? Tweleve years for murder? Those crimes cant be that heinous then can they? If, as the Anti death penalty mob are fond of saying, a country killing its murderers are simply saying its okay to kill, then surely one handing out soft punishment is doing the same?
And this allows the rot to seep deeper into society because we start to see violent crime as almost trivial. Go back to Victorian times, or even as recent as the 1940/50s. Crime was dealt with much more severly then than it is now and as a consequence of that people respected the law of the land. Id even go so far as suggest folk had sympathy when their fellow man suffered at the hands of thugs and murderers. Why? Because back in those distant days, killing somebody meant you would recieve the full weight of justice. People knew it was a serious offence when they witnessed murderers hang for it.
Fastforward to 2012 and we are seeing killers freed before they've even had time to grow a decent beard! As a result of this, murder doesn't send the same shockwaves through towns and cities anymore so idiots on the internet cannot see the harm in posting tasteless 'jokes'. And there is no use being angry at these trolls, we have done this to ourselves.
The way to save humanity from turning in on itself and getting warped out of recognition is withdrawing the woollen mitten we currently use to punish serious crime, and replace it with something that will actually put a dent in it. Do this and respect will fall into place by its own motion.

Wheel Out The Tyburn Tree

One of the vile vermin (I cant bring myself to call him a 'man') who was involved with the death of Baby P will be released on Friday it has been reported, and to add insult to this tragedy the b@astard will be given a new identity and more than likey plastic surgery to keep him safe from a rightfully angry mob.
How do I feel about this? Well being as im firmly in the Pro Death Penalty camp (you can find me posting under the screen name The Broker on ProDeathPenalty .com) I am absolutely fuming.
As anger is a great emotion to sculpt thoughts I will say exactly what I said on Facebook when I heard this news; that precious baby's killers should all be hanged at the Tyburn gallows (it could support triple hangings). There is no rehabilitation for scum who leave over 50 injuries including a snapped spine on a child. There is no change or reform; only death could ever be punishment enough. The hanging, drawing & quartering type. FREE? This is the reflection of a sick society indeed.
A common saying with the anti mob are "dont kill in my name." Well dont free them in my name either. Im certainly not part of this illness which has gripped the UK and Europe. Giving murderers a second chance? Its madness and will end in tears.


The Tyburn Tree could hang multiple inmates

This is what happens when a country foolishly abolishes the death penalty. Other sentences like life in prison get lowered because in scrapping capital punishment, we are almost saying that murder isn't so bad afterall. The less sentences criminals recieve, the less harm the public believe has been done. And its wrong. Not only wrong but wholly disgusting.
These evil swines (and im being unfair to pigs there) should never be seeing the light of day again! Hell at the very least they ought to be on a secure ward in Broadmoor until the end of their wretched days. They brutally murdered a child and they deserve freedom??! You sick, sick kitties.
The general public will be fetching the scythes and burning torches over this and good for them. This will do grave harm to society because when authorities are prepared to let sadistic child killers go unpunished (and with those type of sentences they did go unpunished), then respect for our judicial system flies out the court window.
This poor baby was let down by his 'parents' (and it galls me to call them that) and now Baby Peter has been let down by justice. Throughout his cruelly short life, everything was stacked against him and there was no hope. Even the law of the land mocks him, as it does with every victim of crime. No smarmy words from politicians and do-gooders could ever convince the public otherwise.
Great Britain? Criminal Britain more like. A land where causing over 50 injuries to a young child and eventually causing his death will earn you a three year prison term.
And to all those against capital punishment; I would rather have the death of one innocent executed on my conscience, than the deaths of many children.
